ACC Smart Bell — main screen

(Overview)

A school bell has one job and cannot miss it. We replaced a manual bell with a scheduler that rings every period on time with the school’s own audio, keeps working without internet, and cannot be changed by whoever walks past the PC. When the school’s machine proved too weak for a browser-based app, we built a native Lite edition that starts in under a second on about 50 MB of RAM. It has rung the school’s bells since July 2026.

(What we built)

  1. 01Per-bell schedules by day of the week, each with its own audio
  2. 02Sound board for announcements, emergencies and extra bells
  3. 03Offline by design — audio stored on the machine, kept alive by a service worker
  4. 04PIN lock, per-bell time locks and an activity log
  5. 05Full backup and restore, including the audio files
  6. 06Native Windows Lite build in Python: ~50 MB RAM, tray icon, starts with Windows
